MY FIRST TRIP TO THE REDWOODS

  • Ever since I was a little kid I had always seen the Redwoods on all kinds of tv shows and I have always wanted to go. It wasn't until earlier this year that I finally had an opportunity to do so. I could not believe how big they are. We drove for miles and miles and never saw the top of any tree from the car.

    NICKI & KYLE...TRASH THE DRESS

  • After the wedding we met Nicki and Kyle the next day at Snoqualmie Falls for a "trash the dress" session. We sometimes get the craziest reactions when mentioning a "trash the dress" session, but really it doesn't have to be about trashing the dress. Its more about being able to relax, have fun because your not on a time crunch and it isn't as big as a deal if you get a little something on your dress compared to on your wedding day so you can be a little more adventuresome.

Kyle had made special arrangements because Snoqualmie Falls is actually closed to the public at the bottom of the falls due to construction. Nicki and Kyle aren't just anyone though...they protect and serve our country so we were allowed to be there at the bottom of the falls all by ourselves. It was so beautiful and we had a great time with them! Nicki & Kyle were very adventuresome. We walked along a deck overlooking the falls when we reached the end I was thinking in my head this is really nice, but such a small space to do these pictures...as I was thinking this Kyle and Nicki jumped over the deck and started to climb down a steep cliff with rocks and mud...I couldn't believe it...they were so awesome!

Kyle is off at graduate school in Ireland where he is training for a career in the submarine community and Nicki will spend her next two years on ships followed by a career as an oceanographer/meteorology officer.

This couple was such a joy to work with and we just want to thank them for serving our country and keeping us free allowing us to live the wonderful lives we all live as Americans.

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL!

  • It is that time of the year again. There is a coolness in the air, leaves are turning yellow and orange and yes it is the start of football. Tonight I got to go to the Jesuit vs Canby football game. Jesuit won 34-14. It was a great pre-cursor to the game that really matters...Notre Dame's home opener. Until then here are a few pictures of the game tonight.

    SARAH & DAMIEN SNEAK PEEK

  • How does that Savage Garden song go..."I knew I loved you before I met you..." That sums up Sarah and Damien...they weren't in love at first sight...they were in love before first sight. They met on-line and had talked many times before going on their first date. But before they even went on that first date Damien already knew that Sarah was that special one he has been dreaming of his whole life. Less then a month after they first met they have already tied the knot and here is a sneek peak from their wedding yesterday.

IDEAS FROM NICKI AND KYLE'S WEDDING

  • 9/2/10

  • As a photographer we see everything to do with weddings. Going to one, two and even sometimes three weddings in a week we see all kinds of ideas, traditions, decorations and on and on. I want to start choosing things I see at weddings that are different or the are just unique and share them with you all. Maybe it will inspire you or give you a creative idea of your own. This will be the first of many similar posts.

Guest books are ever changing and there are a variety of ways of doing them. But this was a first for us to see. I don't know if the quilt had any significance prior to the wedding, but it has plenty of meaning now. I love the creativity in having something tangible to sit out instead of a book that might just be stored away.

Nicki and Kyle were both on the cycling team in the Navel Academy. They incorporated this into their cake topper. This was a great way to make the wedding reception more personal!

The picture above and below are of Chad Long who played some live music during the cocktail hour and dinner. He created a great atmosphere as he sung a Jason Mraz / Jack Johnson kind of music. He was really good!

Part of the family was from Hershey, PA so naturally they had to have Hershey bars.

Now this last picture isn't necessarily a great wedding idea though it was kinda funny. You see the people in the background laughing...the empty table went to the buffet line out of turn so this is how the table in the back repaid them while they were getting their food...it was all in good fun and it was funny watching their faces coming back to a table with upside down chairs!

    NICKI & KYLE...WOODINVILLE, WA

It was at a Navy football game that Nicki and Kyle first met. They were both working in the concession stand to raise money for the Academy's cycling team. Kyle not wanting to miss an opportunity to get to know Nicki better asked her out to lunch the following week, lunch turned into movies and movies turned into deep conversations and discussions and into dinner...all this to say they really hit it off right away. They started dating, but having a relationship in the Academy is no easy feat. Trying to balance rigorous school loads, working military jobs, playing sports and still yet they found time to make it work. It wasn't long before Kyle knew there was no other girl out there like Nicki and that she was the only girl for him. He proposed in the Constitutional Gardens in Washington, DC.

Their wedding was so much fun. I seriously felt like I was in a movie. Once the dancing started I was certain I was in a scene from Top Gun. These group from the Navy were so close, you could tell they were all best friends and had each others back no matter what the circumstance. But tonight it wasn't about protecting each other or going on a mission together it was just about celebrating together. The dance floor was packed and everyone had an amazing time together.
